Ousted Syrian Leader Assad Survives Poisoning Attempt

Unconfirmed reports claim that “ousted Syrian leader Bashar al Assad was the target of a poisoning attempt in Moscow.” Apparently, the way he showed up on the Kremlin’s doorstep was fatally embarrassing. He’s been living in Russia since an ISIS offshoot chased him out of Syria.

Assad survives poison

As former Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad learned on Sunday, poison is a favorite way Russians use to deal with unwanted associates. He’s been residing in Moscow “under Russian protection since December 8.

He doesn’t feel real protected but Assad’s thankful he’s breathing on his own, again.

Unverified but generally dependable sources relate that 59-year-old Assad suddenly fell ill on December 29.

The closest thing to a first hand report available states the ousted dictator “complained to security guards about indisposition and breathing problems and asked to call for medical help.” It’s a good thing Russian paramedics move quick.

Almost immediately after the request,” insiders relate, Assad “started coughing violently and began choking.” They gave him some water which “helped to ease the attack a little, but his breathing did not return to normal.

That’s when he started complaining of “headache and abdominal pain.” Things got worse from there. “By the time the medics arrived, the condition of the former Syrian president was deteriorating.

Apparently, the way he showed up on the Kremlin’s doorstep was fatally embarrassing.

Improved after treatment

If Assad was poisoned by the Russians, it doesn’t look like they used Novichok on him. He recovered much to fast for anything in that family of toxins. Which they’re famous for.

Medical personnel were quickly dispatched to the visiting VIP’s residence “where initial aid was administered.

Almost instantly, the Syrian despot responded to first aid. His “condition allegedly improved after treatment in his apartment, and his health was said to have stabilized by Monday evening.” It’s not clear if he took the hint and started making arrangements to move to a less sinister country. Russia and Iran had been propping him up in power.

The Ayatollah hasn’t been heard from since Donald Trump was reelected in November. Rumors say he was so upset he had a life threatening stroke. He may not be alive. Nobody has seen him in public since. Officially, he’s just fine. Either way, Assad won’t have much luck moving to Iran.

Russian officials “including Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, were notified of the incident.” Actually they were notified that their target is still alive and their plot didn’t go as planned.

An investigation is reportedly ongoing to determine how Assad might have been exposed to the poison.
