Breaking News: NFL Star Found Dead in His Home at Age 33

Just sixteen days before his 34th birthday, an NFL star with 63 touchdown passes during his 10-year career was found dead in his home.

Former Denver Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas has passed away at the age of 33.

Football Career

Thomas won a Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2015, and earned a total of four Pro Bowls while he was with the team.

The NFL star was later traded to the Houston Texans in 2018, and also played for the New York Jets for a brief time in 2019, starting for 10 out of 11 games.

According to reporting from The Sun: “The Broncos selected him with the 22nd overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft and, at 6ft 3inches and 225 pounds, he developed into one of the NFL’s most dangerous big targets at the position. Thomas ranks No 2 in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns on the Broncos’ all-time list, trailing only Rod Smith in both categories.”

Death

Thomas was found dead in his home in the evening on December 9th, according to the police in Roswell, Georgia. No foul play is suspected.

Police investigators have confirmed that preliminary information suggests that a medical issue may have been a contributing factor behind the NFL star’s early demise, though they have not given any further details as to what kind of medical issue.

The Denver Broncos released a statement on Twitter, writing: “We are devastated and completely heartbroken. Demaryius’ humility, warmth, kindness and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him.”

In another tweet, the Broncos wrote: “There’s an old saying that goes, ‘You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.’ By that standard — and any other — Demaryius Thomas was a hell of a guy. Remembering the life & laugh of D.T.”

Sports personalities, celebrities, fans, and people around the world are mourning Thomas’ loss.

Shannon Sharpe, a sports analyst and former tight end for the Denver Broncos, tweeted: “I’m heart broken. This doesn’t seem real but I’m proud of the man and player DT became. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Bronco Country, we’re hurting.”

“Im so sad to wake up this morning to hear about the passing of my friend Demariyus Thomas. We were all blessed with his humility and positive spirit, and we will all miss him. This photo is from the Hall of Fame this past August, a source of light as always,” wrote legendary quarterback Tom Brady, who is currently on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but spent the first 20 seasons of his career with the New England Patriots.
