At the Gorham Country Club in Maine, a golfer found a wheel from a plane’s landing gear on the 7th fairway. Though he did not witness the wheel falling, he called the police when he came upon it while he was golfing.

Officers arrived on the scene to take pictures of the spot where the landing gear fell, and subsequently contacted the Federal Aviation Industry.

Luckily, the Gorham Police Department was already aware of the situation after having received a call at around 6 p.m. from the Portland Jetport, informing them that a pilot had reported to the Jetport tower that they had lost some of their landing gear over Gorham.

The plane, a twin-engine Piper Navajo, was able perform a belly landing at approximately 6:30 p.m., touching down safely at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, New York. No one on the plane or at the golf course was injured.

Police shared some of the pictures from the incident on Facebook.
