Embattled Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) is facing backlash after she told desperate residents dealing with the raging wildfires to visit “URL” for help, seemingly not understanding that her speechwriter forgot to remove the “URL” placeholder and insert the actual website link.

Bass made the gaffe during a Wednesday press conference after she finally returned home from a trip to Africa, which she left for even though she had already been warned about the potential wildfires.

“If you need help, emergency information, resources, and shelter is available,” Bass told the public in the press briefing.

“All of this can be found at URL,” she said, clearly reading a script without understanding what she was saying.

Bass didn’t even notice or try to correct her error, and instead continued her speech, stating, “Los Angeles: Together is how we will get through this.”

“Food, water, medicine, a bag packed and ready — again, this is an active situation. And conserve water to the extent that you can. We want to make sure that we are ready if we need more water,” she added.

Bass’ gaffe immediately prompted criticism, especially in light of her Africa vacation and her extreme mismanagement of fire services.

“This is the perfect picture of the incredible levels of incompetence ravaging Los Angeles right now,” Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk wrote in a post on X.

Podcast host Stephen L. Miller highlighted Bass’ comment alongside other gaffes from Democrat leaders amid the ongoing wildfires — pointing to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) response to the lack of water to fight fires, where he stated that “locals need to figure all of this out.”

He also highlighted President Joe Biden’s interruption of a press briefing about the wildfires, where he stated: “They got notifications yesterday that their homes probably burned to the ground…but, the good news is, I’m a great-grandfather as of today.”

“Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass returns from Africa to a burning city and reads through an error-ridden script that doesn’t actually tell residents where to get help,” Eric Daughtery wrote.
