Harris Rambles Incoherently In First Unscripted Press Conference

Vice President Kamala Harris, now the official Democrat presidential nominee, finally gave her first unscripted press conference on Thursday — a gaffe-filled speech that once again ended without taking questions from the media.

While Harris did speak to the press, she continued her record of refusing to answer questions from the press — as she has not answered media questions since the day that President Joe Biden dropped out and endorsed her.

Harris is widely known for speaking in what commentators call “word salads” during nearly every unscripted appearance, and this press conference was no exception. Speaking about the Biden-Harris administration agreeing to a prisoner swap with Russia, her comments were incoherent and nonsensical.

“This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy,” she said, keeping a serious face the entire time while waving her hands.

This incoherent statement came after another embarrassing gaffe from the VP less than 24 hours before, where she “accidentally” called herself the president while giving a eulogy for the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX).

“Which, as a US Senator, I was proud to co-sponsor and then as presi—” Harris said, immediately realizing her error and trying to cover it up. “As vice president it was my honor—with the president! With the president!”

It is unclear whether Harris’ ongoing effort to avoid press questions is because of the prevalence of these gaffes or because she will have a tough time defending her record. The vice president has recently been trying to rebrand herself, flip-flopping on many issues in the process of pushing through her campaign.

The flip-flopping has come from anonymous leaks to the mainstream media in recent days, with an unidentified campaign spokesperson telling the Washington Examiner that Harris no longer supports “a federal job guarantee” and anonymous campaign officials telling the New York Times that she now supports fracking, wants to increase funding for border security, does not want to ban assault weapons and force Americans to sell them to the government, and no longer is in favor of “a single-payer health insurance system.”
