Conservatives Begging Trump To Make CNN Pundit His Press Sec

Supporters of President-elect Donald Trump have flooded social media to beg him to pick CNN pundit Scott Jennings his press secretary.

Trump has already announced several cabinet picks over the past few days, including former Democrat congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as Homeland Security secretary. He also announced the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which will be headed up by tech billionaire Elon Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

However, as of Wednesday evening, Trump had not yet announced his pick for press secretary — but his supporters have some suggestions, and one of the top contenders is CNN pundit Scott Jennings. The Kentucky native previously worked as special assistant to former President George W. Bush and worked on both of Bush’s campaigns. He also previously advised Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and is a founding partner of RunSwitch Public Relations.

Numerous X users recommended Jennings for the role, including RedState reporter Bonchie, who wrote: “Scott Jennings is just toying with the libs at this point. Make this dude press secretary and don’t think another second about it.”

Conservative commentator Guy Benson shared a clip of Jennings defending another one of Trump’s picks — Fox News host and decorated Army veteran Pete Hegseth, who Trump chose for Defense Secretary — with Benson referring to the CNN pundit as the “should-be Press Sec.”

Another user gave a detailed explanation for the widespread support for Jennings, writing:

“I wish I could buy stock in Scott Jennings because there’s not really anyone else like him right now: 1. He debates 5 on 1 basically all the time. He never complains about being ganged up on; 2. He doesn’t lose his cool or resort to cheap shots. He debates aggressively and stays on point; 3. He seems like he’s having the time of his life. He knows when he’s won and deploys The Office Jim Stares at the Camera face to signal to the viewers that it’s over; 4. He’s not a partisan talking point bot. He has his own interesting things to say; 5. He protects and promotes his own brand on Twitter. Most people don’t watch cable news so he clips his hits and posts them online. Lots of other talking heads come off as exasperated, tired, grumpy, highly partisan, and boring. CNN has a good thing on its hands with the Scott Versus The World dynamic.”

Real Clear Investigations’ Paul Sperry argued that Jennings would make a good communications director for Trump as well.

“Scott Jennings = strong candidate for White House press secretary or communications director. He has been excellent throughout this campaign, arguing effectively as the lone GOP voice on a hostile, biased CNN panel, while keeping his cool and class. Bravo Zulu!” Sperry wrote.
