Robert De Niro’s son has announced that he now identifies as a transgender woman named “Airyn.”
Aaron “Airyn” De Niro, 29, is one of the vehemently anti-Trump actor’s seven children with four different women. His mother is actress Toukie Smith, and his twin brother is Julian De Niro.

Airyn announced that he identifies as “transgender” during a newly published interview with the LGBT propaganda outlet “Them.”
“There’s a difference between being visible and being seen,” he told the outlet. “I’ve been visible. I don’t think I’ve been seen yet.”
He went on to discuss recent media coverage and how it has supposedly portrayed him incorrectly, and was especially angry about some headlines calling him a “nepo baby” — a slang term for someone who is believed to have achieved their success because of nepotism, meaning being given jobs by a wealthy and/or powerful family member.
“They just sort of reminded me that people really don’t know anything about me,” Airyn said.
“I wasn’t brought up having a side part in one of dad’s movies or going to business meetings or attending premieres. My dad was very big on us finding our own sort of path… I would want [success] to happen on my own merit,” he continued.
“Obviously, no parent is perfect, but I am grateful that both my parents agreed to keep me out of the limelight,” he added. “They have told me they wanted me to have as much of a normal childhood as possible.”
Airyn also claimed to be a “late bloomer.”
“I was always told I was too much of something or not enough of something growing up: Too big, not skinny enough. Not black enough, not white enough,” he said. “Too feminine, not masculine enough. It was never just, ‘You’re just right, just the way you are.’”
Airyn, who is biracial, then claimed that it was “the influence black women have had on me” that prompted him to start hormone therapy in November 2024.
The author of the article went on to note that the “turning point” in Airyn’s transition was supposedly his viewing of the live-action remake of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” — which failed miserably due to the race-swap of the main character — which made him decide to get braids.
“I’d want to hopefully be an inspiration for at least one other person like me who is black, who is queer, who’s not a size extra small,” Airyn told the outlet. “I’d want to see more trans women, more black women who are maybe bigger-bodied or don’t fit the mold of super thin or heroin chic.”
Meanwhile, social media users labeled Airyn’s decision as a desperate cry for attention, with many pointing out how many supposed “transgender” people grew up without a father in the home. Others also questioned why so many Hollywood celebrities have “transgender” children compared to average families who have a child that identifies as “transgender.”
