Since Chicago police won’t provide the protection merchants are paying for, they’re forced to take the law into their own hands. The vigilant manager of an O’Reilly Auto Parts store in Calumet Heights also went around the liberal prosecutors. The ones who won’t do their job to charge local criminals. He held his own trial, conviction and sentencing. It was all over in the time it took to pull the trigger. Since it was a death sentence, the yet unnamed robber won’t be burdening Illinois taxpayers any further.
Chicago vigilant and alert
As Fox News reports, merchants in the city of Chicago are forced to become vigilant in every aspect of their security. Police have allowed the criminals to run rampant and hardly show up to take a report after the crime so retailers have no choice other than protecting themselves.
That’s why one “auto parts store manager shot and killed a would-be robber Saturday after the suspect flashed a gun.”
Chicago police eventually arrived to learn the robber lying on the floor in critical condition was “between 30 and 40 years old” when he chose to rob the “O’Reilly Auto Parts store in Calumet Heights.”

He walked in, “took out a firearm and demanded money from the register.” He didn’t get any. Instead, “the store manager, whose name has not yet been disclosed, pulled out his own firearm and fired shots at the robber.”
Liberals can’t scream too much about it because “the manager is a valid FOID cardholder.” The armed assailant “was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.”
He won’t do that again. Maybe his friends will take notice. Police note that “multiple bullet holes riddled the vestibule, along with shattered glass out front of the building.”
Concealed carry more popular
Authorities note that the robber’s gun was seen on the floor near the shop’s entrance. They took a bunch of photos then headed back to the office.
Names have not been released pending notification of the deceased’s family. Fox notes that with the major crime wave sweeping through Chicago, permits for concealed carry are getting really popular.
They did a study of “local media reports going back to 2020 found at least 44 incidents where individuals with a gun” have “thwarted an attack or other crime” near Chicago. They note that FOID is “an Illinois identification card used for gun possession and purchase.”

USA Carry took note of the story. “This incident,” they write, “highlights the importance of being able to defend oneself in dangerous situations. In some cases, waiting for law enforcement to arrive may not be feasible or practical, and one’s safety may depend on the ability to take action in the moment.”
They also point out that you have a lot of responsibility if you chose to pack heat. It’s important not to hit innocent bystanders and to keep your weapon and ammunition safe and secure at all times. Especially around children. “While not all individuals are comfortable with or choose to carry a firearm, those who do should obtain the necessary training to be responsible and well-informed regarding firearm safety and use.”
The mayor’s race will decide a lot regarding the crime situation in Chicago. One candidate is all for continuing the failed non-enforcement policies of Lori Lightfoot. The other is running on stricter policing and more prosecution. Voters will soon decide which they prefer.
