This must be the week of bizarre accidents because I have seen some crazy things reported over the last few days.
One of them was a walkway malfunction at the Bangkok airport.
The malfunction resulted in a woman having to have her leg amputated.
Horrible Tragedy
The incident took place at Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport.
A 57-year-old Thai woman was on the walkway when her leg became trapped under the walkway.
The pictures were horrific, as her leg can be seen up to about half-thigh having gone under the moving sidewalk.
Local officials revealed that the medical team had to amputate her leg just above the knee.
Don Mueang Airport Director Karun Thanakuljeerapat stated, “On behalf of the Don Mueang International Airport, I’d like to express my deepest condolences regarding the accident.
“I’d like to insist that we will ensure that no such accident will happen again.”
Exactly how the accident happened is still under investigation.
There were other pictures provided of showing mangled suitcase wheels, but it was unclear if they caused the malfunction that resulted in the woman’s legs being trapped.
Whatever the damage that was done to the walkway, it only took about an hour for the airport to reopen the walkway for passengers to use again.
