Ibarra Found Guilty Of Killing Laken Riley, Facing Life In Prison

Illegal Alien Found Guilty, Facing Life In Prison

Jose Ibarra, an illegal alien, was found guilty on all 10 charges against him related to the horrific murder of Laken Riley, the Georgia nursing student who was found dead on the University of Georgia-Athens campus.

The 26-year-old illegal alien — who was provided with a taxpayer-funded flight to Georgia thanks to the Biden-Harris administration — had waived his right to a jury trial, leaving his fate up to Judge Patrick Haggard in a bench trial.

Haggard found Ibarra guilty on all 10 charges, which included murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault with intent to rape Riley. The judge only took 19 minutes after closing arguments before rendering his verdict.

In her closing arguments, prosecutor Sheila Ross spent 45 minutes highlighting the “overwhelming” evidence against Ibarra — pointing to testimony from his roommates who all deemed him guilty, and physical evidence that included his DNA found under Riley’s fingernails and his fingerprint on her cell phone.

“Quite frankly: she got him. She scratched him,” Ross said, highlighting the injuries found on Ibarra’s hands and arms. Photos of the scratches on the illegal alien’s arms and hands were shown in court on Monday.

The prosecutor also reiterated some of the more horrific and gruesome details of the crime, stating that “he put huge holes in her head with a rock and he did it more than once. There is no reason for him to do that except to silence her forever.”

Ross also noted that Ibarra had been seen on surveillance video disposing of a blood-soaked jacket.

“He threw away that jacket because he knew exactly what was on it. It was his blood and her blood … so he knew he had to get rid of it,” she explained. “He threw away those items because he knew he killed her.”

Meanwhile, Ibarra’s defense attorney attempted unsuccessfully to blame Ibarra’s brother, Diego, for the murder — claiming that Diego was the one seen on the surveillance footage, arguing that the hat worn by the suspect belonged to Diego.

However, Diego actually implicated his own brother during police interrogation. The illegal alien, who is a member of the violent Venezuelan gang “Tren de Aragua,” identified Jose Ibarra as the man in the surveillance footage.

“That’s him,” Diego said, referring to his brother while adding: “It looks like he’s throwing something in the trash. I’ve seen him in those clothes.

Ibarra is facing life in prison for the horrific murder.
