A shocking video from New York City showed a woman stealing cash out of the hands of a seven-year-old boy, then punching his mom in the face when she attempted to intervene.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) is searching for a woman who robbed a child and assaulted the child’s mother. The department has released footage of the incident from the security camera with the suspect’s face clearly captured on film.
A disturbed woman(?) snatched a wad of cash out of a 7-year-old boy’s hand at a Bronx grocery store — and then attacked his mom when she intervened, cops said Friday.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. on September 24 at Richard’s Fruits and Vegetables on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx neighborhood of Mount Eden, began when a seven-year-old boy was standing near the front counter of the store holding cash, trying to pay for some fruit. The suspect suddenly approached the child and snatched the money out of his hand before trying to flee. The child’s mom immediately stepped in to try to confront the suspect and take back her son’s money, but the woman pushed her away and then punched her in the face before fleeing the scene.
The mother reportedly required medical treatment at the scene due to the assault, according to the NYPD.
The store owner, Erick Vidals, characterized the incident as “crazy” in a statement to local media, adding: “It’s really, like, shocking.”
Vidals further explained that he had seen the suspect on several occasions begging for money on the street near his store, noting that she had been wearing a wig during the attack.
“She’s always outside asking for money. That’s the only thing she does, but you know, that day, she just snatched the money from the little kid. It was insane,” the store owner said, according to CBS News.
“We have heard like, down the block, around the corner, you know, there’s always something happening,” Vidals added.
While the money that the suspect stole from the child was only a few dollars, it is part of a broader pattern of rising violent crime in deep-blue New York City, especially because it highlights just how brazen these criminals are — not only to rob someone in plain sight in a store in broad daylight, but to snatch such a small amount of money out of a child’s hands and assault the child’s mom for defending him.
Police are searching for the woman accused of stealing money from a 7-year-old boy and assaulting his mother in the Bronx last month.
The incident happened around 11:40 a.m. on September 24 at 1356 Jerome Avenue.
