One of the wildest carjacking sprees in history was caught on camera thanks to a news helicopter that followed the man as he stole several different vehicles during a police chase.

A Colorado man has been found guilty of 11 felonies, including attempted manslaughter and first-degree assault for the injuries that a police officer is suffering from after trying to stop him.

Ryan Stone, 30, was convicted of carjacking three vehicles, including one with a four year old boy in the back seat. He has been sentenced to 160 years in prison.

The high speed police chase was seen on live TV, with the public watching Stone endanger the lives of several people, including police officers.

The pursuit began in Longmont, Colorado, just 30 miles north of Denver. Stone, who was wanted by the police for failing to appear in court on drug-related charges, started his crime spree by stealing a sport-utility vehicle outside of a convenience store. A four year old boy was in the back of the SUV at the time.

Stone didn’t seem to care, speeding away on Interstate 25 toward Denver. He led the police on a chase, driving at over 100 miles per hour down the highway, according to authorities.

After reaching Brighton, Colorado, Stone crashed into a minivan, abandoning his vehicle with the child inside. Luckily, the boy was uninjured.

Instead of running away on foot, he chose to rip a woman out of her vehicle, stealing the car and speeding away. Stone later crashed that car near the Denver National Airport, and continued on his crime spree, carjacking another vehicle and continuing to elude police.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Bellamann Hee then tried to deploy stop sticks to deflate the stolen vehicle’s tires, and was hit by Stone in the process, causing several injuries including a shattered leg.

Finally, Stone crashed the third vehicle. He attempted to steal another, but had to take off running to avoid the police, who ultimately arrested him after a short foot chase.

According to reporting from Yahoo News, the crime spree “spanned five counties, covered 75 miles, and was broadcast live by a Denver news station’s helicopter.”

Stone claimed that he was remorseful for the crime spree when speaking with Douglas County District Court Judge Paul King, but the evidence points to that being a lie.

Prosecutors released the details of phone calls made from jail by Stone, where the suspect blamed the state trooper that he injured for his own injuries.

“The dumbass is standing in the middle of the highway,” he said to his mother in one call.

Stone also bragged about the international news coverage that his case received during another phone call with a female friend.

“My lawyer told me I made the news in the UK and Australia,” he said, laughing.

According to the district attorney’s office, Stone will not be eligible for parole until 2085.
