Republican vice-presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) casually walked up to Air Force Two at a Wisconsin airport, essentially causing a tense standoff where Vice President Kamala Harris refused to exit the plane to meet him.
While the mainstream media has been propping up Harris as the Democrat presidential nominee, she has thus far refused to do any interviews or take any questions from reporters since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her.
Thus, JD Vance decided to take advantage of this when his plane happened to land at the same airport where Harris had just landed aboard Air Force Two. The Republican vice-presidential nominee walked up to the plane, hoping that Harris would come out and speak to him and the press gathered outside. While he didn’t get a conversation with the VP — during which Vance planned to “say hello” and ask “why does she refuse to answer questions” — Vance did get to talk to the media.
“I just wanted to check out my future plane,” Vance told reporters.
“Hopefully it’s going to be my plane in a few months. I also thought you guys may get lonely, because the VP doesn’t answer questions from reporters,” he added.

It is currently unclear whether Harris stayed on the plane the entire time to avoid Vance, or whether she managed to exit quietly without being noticed — but reports from the scene indicated that she had not exited Air Force Two before Vance arrived.
The Republican senator also posted on X about the standoff, writing: “I thought the reporters traveling with Kamala might be a little lonely given that she never answers questions from them, so I figured I’d come say hello and check out my new plane while I was at it.”

As Vance repeatedly stated, Harris has avoided giving unscripted press conferences or answering questions from the media since she was installed as Biden’s replacement after he was forced out. Meanwhile, Vance and former President Donald Trump have continued doing speaking events and taking questions even from outright hostile leftist media figures.
