President Donald Trump has announced that he had officially revoke former President Joe Biden’s security clearance, arguing that Biden’s cognitive decline necessitates it and highlighting the fact that Biden set the precedent for this action.
Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social on February 7, where he insisted that Biden did not need to have access to any classified information because of his cognitive decline and his history of mishandling classified information. He also highlighted the fact that Biden had revoked Trump’s security clearance after he took office in January 2021, pointing out that Biden set the precedent that allows him to retaliate.
“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings. He set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents,” Trump wrote in the Truth Social post.
“The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from ‘poor memory’ and, even in his ‘prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information,” Trump added, referring to Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s mishandling of classified information.
The Hur report stated that Biden willfully retained classified materials but was essentially not competent to stand trial because of his cognitive decline. The report contained “examples and assessments that Biden’s mental faculties and memory have deteriorated,” and explained that Biden “did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.”
Trump concluded his post by vowing that he “will always protect our National Security” — adding: “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Despite Trump being president for four years, Biden insisted during a 2021 interview with CBS News that Trump didn’t deserve security clearance because he might “slip and say something.”
“There’s no need for him to have that intelligence briefing.. what value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all?” Biden asked during the interview.
