Republicans had an advantage in the Senate with Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and John Fetterman (D-PA) both hospitalized.
Feinstein went in last week for shingles.
Fetterman is in for mental health issues.
That advantage has now been nullified because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has been hospitalized after a nasty fall.
It’s a Problem
McConnell was treated for polio as a child and had a tough time going up stairs even since.
As he has gotten older, the problem has gotten worse.
He shows up in the Senate from time to time with unexplained bruises, which is generally assumed that he took a fall of some sort.
This time, he was attending a dinner for his Senate Leadership Fund at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC, formerly the Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C.
As a sidebar, notice how there was no outrage over the event behind held there after the name change, but I digress.
McConnell took a fall during the event, and he was immediately taken to the hospital.
Reports stated that he was being treated for a concussion and will remain hospitalized.
David Popp, McConnell’s communications director, stated, “Leader McConnell tripped at a dinner event Wednesday evening and has been admitted to the hospital and is being treated for a concussion.
“He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and treatment.
“The Leader is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.”
McConnell is 81 and realistically should have retired after his last term was completed, but like most DC politicians, he is so embedded and so hungry for power that he refuses to give up his seat.
