By now, you have probably watched the attempted assassination of Donald Trump 100 different times.
If you are as obsessed with it as I am, you also took notes on the many different failings of the Secret Service.
While many are calling these agents heroes, I am taking a different route and calling most of them completely unprepared and failures.
What Went Wrong
From what I could see, there were maybe one or two agents that day that actually did their jobs, and I am only speaking to the personal protection detail of Trump, not the snipers or counter teams that were in place.
If you watch, after the shots are fired, the one agent covering Trump’s back appears to know what he is doing, but the rest of the team is unorganized and confused.
If you watch when they are supposed to be covering Trump for the move, his head and torso are exposed most of the time, and they are supposed to be completely blocking any access to see him and take a shot.
I still cannot get over the one short female agent who leans over to pick up Trump’s hat, leaving his entire upper body exposed to a second shot.
Former Secret Service Director John Magaw saw the same thing that I did, stating, “It was absolutely terrible coverage trying to get him out.”
A.T. Smith, the deputy director of the Secret Service from 2012 to 2015, was also disappointed, stating, “The Secret Service training protocols, when they practice this and they have mock assassination attempts, the idea is for the (protective) detail leader or an agent to be able to wrap his hand around the midsection of the protectee and bend him over, and bum’s rush him to either a secure area or into the vehicle.”
Thank God the Director resigned, but she is not done answering for this travesty.
