The mistake isn’t what most folks would consider a harmless one but the Border Patrol “accidentally” turned a terrorist loose on America. It’s okay, they say, we caught him again. Two weeks later. It won’t happen again, they promise.
Border Patrol admits mistake
Oops, Border Patrol officials shrug. It seems that they accidentally “released a Colombian national on the FBI’s terrorism watch list into the states.” It happened last year and was only one of “multiple mistakes” the agency made when they caught 36-year-old Isnardo Garcia-Amado illegally entering the country.
The information came out in a recent and damning report by the Inspector General who’s supposed to be watching over the Department of Homeland Security.
On April 17, 2022, alert agents of the Border Patrol apprehended the suspected terrorist and consistent with Biden regime policy, quickly released him two days later, free to roam across the U.S. as he pleased. They would have cheerfully handed him a bus ticket to his target destination if he had been on a mission, which everyone insists he wasn’t.

According to the report prepared by DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari, “Garcia-Amado was turned loose after [CBP] agents failed to provide the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center with information about the individual that would’ve confirmed he was on the bureau’s watch list.”
That happened because “CBP’s ineffective practices and processes for resolving inconclusive matches with the Terrorist Watchlist led to multiple mistakes.” If you’re going to screw it up, screw it up right, the Border Patrol reasoned.
“For example, CBP sent a request to interview the migrant to the wrong email address, obtained information requested by the [FBI Terrorist Screening Center] but never shared it, and released the migrant before fully coordinating with the TSC.” It’s not like they’re overworked and demoralized or anything.
ICE bungled the arrest
After the Border Patrol realized they had allowed a confirmed terror suspect to enter the American heartland they called ICE to round him up. As Cuffari noted in his analysis, Immigration and Customs Enforcement “prioritized arresting the migrant but faced multiple challenges sharing information within ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations while planning and conducting the arrest.”
That’s why it ended up taking them “more than 2 weeks after the migrant’s release to bring him back into custody.”
When Cuffari went digging into what happened, Border Patrol tried to blame it on being overworked and demoralized. “The DHS inspector general found that some agents at the CBP’s Yuma centralized processing center blamed the surge of migrants at the southern border as factors that contributed to Garcia-Amado’s hasty release.”

Alejandro Mayorkas had them herding the migrants through like cattle and clearing them all for release under his illegal “parole” scheme. If it wasn’t for a federal judge in Florida who slapped down an injunction they would still be streaming through. Nobody wants to talk about that.
As migrants from all around the world continued flooding through the gates day and night, the Border Patrol got a little lax on their procedures. “When the [CBP’s National Targeting Center] asked the Yuma CPC to provide [redacted] to help the [FBI Terrorist Screening Center] determine whether the migrant was a positive Terrorist Watchlist match, the Yuma CPC did not respond to the NTC’s email.”
That’s because they’re overwhelmed. “A Yuma CPC agent explained that he and his colleagues try to respond to [CBP’s National Targeting Center] emails as quickly as possible but were busy processing an increased flow of migrants.“
