Popular Republican Dan Crenshaw Found GUILTY…

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) has gained wide popularity in the GOP for his clever campaign videos and previous service to this country.

For those of you that do not know, Crenshaw was a Navy officer and SEAL.

That eye patch is a combat wound.

He is also someone that regularly preaches the “right” way, yet he was just found guilty of campaign finance violations and fined $42,000.

Missing the Deadline

Crenshaw’s campaign did not hide behind anything other than saying they were unable to complete the audits of donations before the FEC deadline.

The referral in the case stated, “As an authorized campaign committee, the Committee was limited to accepting $2,800 per election from individuals, $5,000 from multicandidate committees, and was prohibited from accepting any corporate contributions. The Committee, however, received $223,460.26 in excessive and apparent prohibited contributions across four disclosure reports…”

Crenshaw’s campaign explained, “Unfortunately, this often happens when campaigns receive thousands of online donations and checks in a short period.

“We can only process them so quickly.

“Sometimes donors send more than they are supposed to.

“We refund them the money, but that takes time. We weren’t fast enough for the FEC deadlines.”

I am not sticking up for Crenshaw because it is his job to have enough people on staff to take care of this before the deadline falls.

However, I will say that I have seen far more lenient penalties handed down to members of the Squad that appeared to have far worse violations.

Why does the hammer always seem to fall on Republicans when the Dems always seem to get the benefit of the doubt?
