Police Find Gruesome Scene, Body Parts Cooking In Oven At Kentucky Home

Police have arrested a Kentucky woman after coming upon a scene so grisly and gruesome that it likely left them scarred for life.

The Kentucky State Police were dispatched to the woman’s home after receiving a call from a man who had been at the property one day earlier to perform work for the homeowner, according to reporting from local media. During the call, the man claimed that he had seen 32-year-old Torilena May Fields acting aggressively toward the victim when he arrived on the property, noting that she had been acting strangely.

Court documents state that on October 8, the witness told police that “Torilena was casting spells on them and was being confrontational.”

When the man arrived at the property the following day, no one responded to his knock at the door, leaving him concerned. His concerns only increased after he looked at the ground outside of the home — finding drag marks leading behind the house. Upon following the trail, the man discovered an unbelievably disturbing sight: a dismembered corpse with the arms, legs, and head cut off, according to police documents.

When police arrived at the home, they discovered something even more horrifying — finding what appeared to be cooked human remains in a pot inside the oven, which was still warm. Officers also reportedly found “body parts and organs” hidden in a folded mattress next to the butchered body in the backyard.

The alleged murderer was still at the scene, as police reported finding Fields inside the home with blood covering her face, hands, and clothing. She reportedly refused to leave the home initially, but was ultimately taken into custody after a standoff with a special response team. Law enforcement reportedly used gas and communicated with Fields using a robot, which led to her surrender after a few hours.

Fields is facing a litany of charges, including abuse of a corpse, evidence tampering, and obstruction of governmental operations, according to a press release from the Kentucky State Police.

The indictment accuses Fields of “decapitating, dismembering, eviscerating her mother’s corpse and placing her head, feet and forearms in a pot in the oven and heating them until they were charred.”

Authorities have since released the identity of the victim, and the news makes the story even more shocking — as she was the suspect’s mother, Trudy Fields. Police had already suspected this to be the case, as the witness who discovered the body told police that he recognized the corpse as Trudy because he saw a “pile of her hair,” according to the arrest report.

After she was arraigned, indicted, and placed in the Bourbon County Detention Center on $1.5 million bond, authorities announced additional charges levied by the grand jury, which included murder and animal torture, as it was revealed that she had also tortured and killed a dog.

District Judge Charles Kuster Jr. reportedly entered a not guilty plea for the defendant and requested a public defender be appointed to represent Fields. The not guilty plea was expected, as felony defendants are unable to plead guilty during their first appearance in district court, as district judges do not have the jurisdiction to accept guilty pleas for felonies. Fields was not present during the initial appearance, nor was she on the Zoom call.

The crime took place in Robertson County, the smallest county in Kentucky, located just 50 miles northeast of Lexington.
