Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is being called out on social media for blatantly lying about the installation of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democrat presidential nominee, claiming that she won an “open” primary.
Harris became the Democrat nominee through incredibly undemocratic means, as she was effectively installed after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her. The party immediately united around Harris without allowing any legitimate challengers to come forward, while ignoring the will of roughly 14 million primary voters that overwhelmingly chose Biden as their candidate. Harris was made the official nominee during last month’s Democrat National Convention (DNC), which was filled with sycophantic fawning over the previously deeply unpopular vice president.
During a Friday night appearance on HBO’s “Real Time” with liberal comedian host Bill Maher, Pelosi falsely claimed that Harris had been chosen as the Democrat Party’s presidential nominee in an “open” contest.
“Many times when I’m encouraging people to run, especially more women, to run for office,” the former Speaker of the House said before stating that there is “nothing more wholesome in our political process than that — aren’t we excited about?”
“Yes,” Maher replied, prompting laughter from the audience.
He then pointed out that “sometimes you’re discouraging people to run” — referring to reports that Pelosi stabbed Biden in the back by forcing him to withdraw from the race through behind-the-scenes manipulation. “We’re not going to get into that,” Maher noted.
Pelosi responded with a smirk as she stated: “Well, people make their own decisions.”
Maher once again drew laughter from the audience with his seemingly sarcastic reply, stating: “Oh, absolutely they do.”
The liberal comedian also made sure to tell Pelosi, “Thank you so much for what you didn’t do,” sarcastically referring to her claims that she didn’t push for Biden to drop out of the race.
Maher went on to ask Pelosi whether she wanted the DNC “to be an open convention” after Biden dropped out, or did she want the nomination “going right to Kamala.”
Of course, Pelosi responded with a blatant lie, claiming that the race “was open” and anyone could have won the nomination — despite the fact that the party immediately fell in line behind Harris without any input from the voters or any legitimate challengers.
“Anybody could have gotten in,” she claimed. “She wrapped it up, you have to give her credit for that.”

Social media lit up with criticism for the interview, with one user pointing out: “The ease with which this woman lies is staggering.”

Others pointed out the clear smugness of Maher and Pelosi while they obviously lied to viewers, with one noting that Pelosi “thinks the DNC’s mafia tactics are cute.”
