Peter Doocy did not go about the line of questioning that I was hoping for, but he did pretty good.
Doocy decided to focus on gasoline prices.
Since Joe Biden was so quick to take credit for the drop in prices after they hit an all-time high, it stood to reason that he would take the blame once they escalated again (just kidding).
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre went into spin mode and sounded like a fool in the process.
It’s Nuanced
This administration is incapable of taking blame for anything.
Doocy set the table, asking, “You said the president was responsible for gas prices coming down. Is the president responsible for gas prices going up?”
KJP responded, “So, it’s a lot more nuanced than that, right?
“Peter, you know this. There have been global challenges that we have all have dealt with, when I say ‘all’ I mean other countries, as well, have dealt with, since the pandemic, there’s been pandemic and there’s been [Russian Federation President Vladimir] Putin’s war.
“And Putin’s war has increased gas prices at the pump.
“We have seen that over the past several months.
“And what the president has been able to do, he took some historic steps, when you think about the strategic petroleum reserve, and making sure that he, we were able to do everything that we can to bring that cost down for American families, give them a little bit more of a breathing room.”
Breathing room from what? Prices were still about 50 percent higher than they were when Biden first took office!
Not to mention the fact that Biden had virtually nothing to do with the prices decreasing.
The fact is usage went down, so supply managed to catch up.
Now usage is going back up, not to mention we are headed into winter, which will really drive the price.
Dig in, folks, because some big heating bills are headed your way, as well as a significant jump at the pump.
But none of this is Joe Biden’s fault.
