Fox News host Jesse Watters just went on the offensive and completely tore Special Counsel Jack Smith to pieces over his indictments against Donald Trump on two separate cases. During the middle of a segment, Watters put Smith on blast for his past legal history as well as the highly controversial charges brought against Trump.
In June, Smith secured a 37-count indictment against the former president based on allegations involving classified documents.
In addition to this, he obtained a four-count indictment concerning actions taken by Trump to challenge the outcome of the 2020 election.
The most recent superseding indictment issued on Thursday also included Carlos De Oliveira, who works as maintenance at Mar-a-Lago estate owned by Donald Trump.
During his program, Watters referred to an earlier press conference held by Special Counsel Smith during which he announced new charges against Donald Trump.
Watters claimed that although the charges do not involve bribery or tax evasion, they are using “the Act of 1866” against him – which is usually employed to prosecute members of Ku Klux Klan.
Alina Habba – an attorney and spokesperson for Trump’s legal team – echoed Watters’ sentiment suggesting that these charges were stacked up purposefully to occupy and distract President Donald from his campaign activities.
She added that it is clear what they are trying to do but “they picked the wrong guy”.
According to her statement, Donald is resilient and determined enough to fight off all these false accusations with due process rights being respected throughout this case.
What lies ahead remains unclear as the judges will have their own say regarding trial schedules which may be impossible considering number of witnesses involved per each case file plus depositions necessary for each trial session accordingly.
Moreover, if fair judges don’t step in due process could be abused leaving justice served only in name but not in action itself as it should be according its meaning and definition as we know it today.
