Governor Brags About Subway Safety After Woman Was Burned Alive

Gov Brags About Safety After Woman Was Burned Alive

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is facing backlash after bragging about making the city’s subways safer just hours after a woman was burned alive on the subway by an illegal alien.

On Sunday, a Guatemalan illegal alien who had been deported under the Trump administration was arrested after he set a sleeping woman on fire on the New York City subway and sat watching her burn to death.

In another incident on a subway in Queens on Saturday, one man was stabbed in the face and another stabbed in the chest. The man who was stabbed in the chest was later pronounced dead.

Despite these horrific crimes, Hochul bragged in a social media post that she had taken “action to make our subways safer” under her administration.

“In March, I took action to make our subways safer for the millions of people who take the trains each day. Since deploying the @NationalGuardNY to support @NYPDnews and @MTA safety efforts and adding cameras to all subway cars, crime is going down, and ridership is going up,” she wrote in a post on X.

Critics quickly slammed Hochul for the tone-deaf post, pointing out that her lies about the subway being safer don’t match up with reality and won’t be well-received on the same day that a woman was literally burned to death on the subway.

“Two hours ago, Kathy Hochul took a victory lap for making subways ‘safer.’ She congratulates herself on the same day two subway riders were stabbed in Queens (one in the face and one in the chest) and another was barbarically burned alive. Has there ever been a more tone-deaf Governor in the history of New York?” asked Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY).

“Are you kidding me??? You are really posting this after a woman was set on fire & died on a Brooklyn train this morning and two people were stabbed (one killed) on a Queens train yesterday,” wrote Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY).

“Today, a lady was burned alive on a subway in NYC. Thank you Kathy, you’ve done a bang up job,” country music star John Rich fired back.

“Unbelievable timing: just hours after a woman was senselessly burned alive, and two people were stabbed, one fatally. Kathy Hochul’s incompetence is costing lives—she needs to leave public office immediately before more New Yorkers suffer,” New York City Council member Robert Holden (R) wrote.

“Hey Kathy Hochul, You could’ve prevented today’s horror if you deported illegals instead of using tax dollars to give them free hotel rooms, cell phones, and debit cards. Today’s gruesome loss of life is your fault. You need to do like Cuomo and resign. You’re the problem,” wrote Paul Szypula.
