BLM Jumps To Defend Drug Dealer In Police Shootout

Officer Josh Baker of the Metro Nashville Police Department was shot and seriously injured in a shootout with Nika N. Holbert according to multiple sources March 12th. According to The New York Post, “Baker, who was hit beneath his bullet-resistant vest, was in stable condition after undergoing surgery, police spokesman Don Aaron said in a video statement.” Baker returned fire as he fell stricken in a hail of bullets and struck Holbert who later died in a local hospital.

The Tennessean wrote,

“Video footage shows that Holbert called someone whom she identified as her mom and said she needed to come to the scene. When Baker discovered the apparent drugs, he informed Holbert he was stepping away to place them in his police vehicle.

Things escalated when Baker attempted to detain Holbert. She grabbed her bag and ran away from the officer, who told her she was about “to get tased.” He pulled out his stun gun, and the woman screamed and ran into the vehicle, at which point Baker deployed the weapon on her, video footage shows.

Seconds later, Baker took a step back and screamed at the woman “to put the gun down.”

From here, dashcam footage ( timestamp 4:19) shows the assailant opening fire on the officer knocking him back and shattering the driver’s side window as he returns fire. She is then seen throwing the gun out of the door and speeding away injured.

According to police, Holbert drove away from the scene but didn’t make it far before crashing into the bush filled ditch at brick Church Pike and Moorewood Drive. She was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Bodycam and Dashcam footage clearly show that Nika Holbert opened fire on Officer Baker while resisting arrest for drug possession. Baker was fortunate to survive the shooting.

BLM Cries Foul Despite Overwhelming Video Evidence.

The illogical leaps necessary to defend Holbert’s shooting of a police officer are difficult to conjure, however, a momentary glance at twitter showed that the BLM mob never let that stand in their way. Twitter User @MillenniumNicki wrote “#BlackLivesMatter If you don’t have a problem with Nika Nicole Holbert being fatally shot by a Tenn. cop, then have the same energy Rayshard Brooks and Jacob Blake who were also committing crimes when they were shot. Unsympathetic perpetrators do not excuse poor police work.”

But it isn’t that simple: the false equivalency is startling and the false premise even more so. The first is the false equivalency that Holbert was “fatally shot” while “committing crimes”. No. She was fatally shot, after SHOOTING A COP. Second, is the false premise that it is morally wrong for a police officer to shoot a violent suspect in commission of a crime. The use of force exists on a continuum and if an officer interprets the actions of a suspect as a threat to themselves or others they are not only justified but REQUIRED to intervene with lethal force.

Many on Twitter have begun to respond to the obtuse BLM call for action in light of the unbelievably clear evidence of Holbert’s wrongdoing. It remains to be seen whether protests in Nashville will follow.
