Actor Gary Sinise, widely known for his role as “Lieutenant Dan” in the movie Forrest Gump, has once again shown his true patriotism with a substantial donation.
Major Donation
Sinise, an Academy Award nominee, awarded Idaho’s East Priest Lake First District with a significant grant that will provide the district with critical fire kits and incident gear turnouts for volunteers. The money will pay for “12 turnouts to outfit and protect volunteer firefighters,” according to reporting by news outlet KXLY.
East Priest Lake Fire Chief Tom Renzi applied for the $27,000 grant through The Gary Sinise Foundation. “We are greatly appreciative of the support they showed the EPLFD by giving us this generous grant,” Renzi said.
“Please know that this is our pleasure, and serves as a ‘Thank You’ from Gary and our thousands of donors from all over the state,” the First Responder Outreach Team said. “The work you and your members have done, and will continue to do, is invaluable to your community and we are honored to be able to support you.”
Brett Allbery, a journalist for KREM2 News, shared a post and video on Twitter thanking Sinise. “Some very appreciative folks today; the newly formed East Priest Lake Fire Department received a $27,000 grant from @GarySiniseFound for new PPE for their volunteer firefighters. They wanted me to forward this message,” the tweet read.
