It was a freak deadly accident involving carrots, but one man is now deceased because of it. These industrial accidents happen far too often.
In this particular case, a man died after his shipment of carrots had fallen on top of him and buried him alive while he had been employed with an agricultural warehouse in Spain.
The 34-year-old has not been named, but he became trapped under these vegetables in the early morning at the agricultural facility in Vallelado, Spain, a city in the municipality in the Spanish province of Segovia, Castilla and León.
It wasn’t long before an ambulance arrived at the scene, along with officers from the Spanish Civil Guard and the fire guard.
Nevertheless, it was all to no avail as the man, who was a worker for his “family business” according to Spanish television station Telecino, died at the scene.
The man has not been formally identified as of yet.
There has now been a police investigation into the incident.
If this had been the only industrial accident that had ever occurred, it would be bad enough, but there have been plenty of other ones, including several examples that are extremely unusual.
One example of this occurred in Messina, Italy when three workers passed away when they fell into a huge tub of fermenting grape juice. One of the workers became dizzy from the fumes and fell in and two of his co-workers attempted to rescue him and they too fell in. It wasn’t long before all three of the workers died.
In another incident, there were about 150 people who were working in a call center who got sick and began feeling dizzy after they breathed in what they thought were dangerous toxic chemicals. They treated a hundred of the workers at the scene and 30 of them were taken to the hospital. The cause? Nothing more than someone’s perfume.
There was a man mauled by a bear while working at a ranger station. He ultimately won a workman’s compensation suit even though he was high on marijuana at the time. The judge ruled that the bear was an “equal opportunity mauler.”
These are but a few of the many industrial incidents that have happened throughout the world, but thankfully, none of these other ones have been involving carrots.
