FBI agent suddenly attacked

Details are still trickling in but it’s been confirmed by police that “an off-duty FBI agent fatally shot a man on a crowded Washington D.C. train platform during the evening rush.

The fed was minding his own business until the attacker, later identified as 28-year-old Troy Bullock, picked a fight with him.

Witnesses relate that “the special agent and the man tussled with one another” until Bullock pushed the official over a railing. The well-trained fed hauled his assailant over with him. They both fell roughly “eight feet off the platform inside the Metro Center Station around 6:20 p.m.

They weren’t in danger of the tracks, due to a walkway at the lower level. “The brawl continued on the lower level.” Eventually, the agent pulled his weapon and “fired several times at the man, killing him.” After he was dead, they learned the attacker also had a gun.

D.C. Executive Assistant Chief of Police Ashan Benedict called a press conference to explain the situation. He verified that their investigation indicates the attacker “appeared to have started the altercation.

Police are convinced that the “veteran” agent was clearly the “victim.” Commuters ran for their lives as soon as the shooting started.

Treated for minor injuries

After the scuffle, the agent was given a lift over to the local ER for a checkup. He was treated for “minor injuries” probably sustained in the sudden drop over a railing with an attacker landing on top of him.

It was obvious that “the sound of gunfire echoing through the busy station created panic among commuters and suspended service along the Red Line.” One driver gets a gold star for keeping his head in the crisis.

One train “continued straight through the station without stopping,” apparently after the agent started shooting. Metro General Manager and CEO Randy Clarke tweeted out a pat on the back for it.

Really grateful for the quick reaction & thoughtful attention by our rail operator tonight whose response during tonight’s police involved shooting at @wmata Metro Center kept customers from potential danger.

The FBI is assisting D.C. police with the investigation. When authorities confirmed that the attacker was armed they clarified that they still weren’t sure “whether Bullock displayed the gun or if the agent knew the man was armed.

They also aren’t giving any details of “a specific threat the agent faced.” If they know what started the fight, they aren’t saying. This remains a developing story so we’ll keep you updated on anything new as it comes in.
