Several former CBS News employees have demanded an independent investigation into the “60 Minutes” scandal, where the network was caught deceptively editing Vice President Kamala Harris’ remarks to make her sound better — which some critics argue could be considered election interference.

Earlier this week, a massive scandal erupted after CBS was caught editing Harris’ responses to “60 Minutes” host Bill Whitaker’s questions about Israel during an interview.

While discussing the United States’ ongoing financial support for Israel in its war against Islamic terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, Whitaker told Harris: “But it seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening.”
In the promotional clip for the “60 Minutes” interview published on Sunday, Harris responded to the comment with one of her signature word salads, stating: “The work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.”
However, presumably in reaction to the mockery of Harris’ word salad, the “full” interview published on Monday night did not include that statement, nor did the interview’s transcript.
Instead, CBS edited together two different clips — Whitaker’s identical statement that “Netanyahu is not listening” is now followed by Harris stating: “We are not gonna stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”

Speaking to the New York Post earlier this week, one former CBS News journalist argued that there needs to be an investigation if the network truly cares about “journalistic integrity.”
“I think there should be an outside investigation,” the anonymous former employee told the outlet this week. “Obviously, there’s a problem here. If they care about journalistic integrity, they would conduct an investigation or release the full transcript.”
The former CBS News journalist went on to point out that the two responses from Harris to the same question were “so different” that it is now imperative that CBS be transparent about the matter and release the entire unedited interview.
Another CBS source told the New York Post that the way Harris’ response was edited was clearly “biased.”
“Their credibility has been called into question and their impartiality has been called into question,” the source explained. “Don’t you need a full-throated review of what went wrong?”
“The stakes are too high,” they added. “It’s a presidential election. Trump is asking for the transcript and journalists are asking for answers.”
It is highly unlikely that CBS will even attempt to investigate the egregious conduct of its own network, as they have been blatant propagandists for Democrats for some time now.
