After Vice President Kamala Harris decided to attack Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for not answering her phone calls while he’s busy prioritizing his citizens ahead of Hurricane Milton, even CNN was forced to admit that her attack was a huge mistake.
Earlier this week, Harris declared DeSantis to be “selfish” for not returning her call while he’s busy preparing for the hurricane — claiming, ironically, that he was playing “political games” by not answering her.
“In these crisis situations — these are the height of emergency situations — is just utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish, and it is about political gamesmanship, instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do, which is to put the people first,” she claimed.
Responding to Harris’ comments, CNN contributor Scott Jennings pointed out that the Democrat nominee was making a mistake by “attacking the governor of a state that’s about to get lashed with one of the most historic hurricanes we’ve ever seen.”
“Is she crazy?” he asked.
Of course, CNN correspondent and pro-Harris propagandist Abby Philip immediately tried to defend Harris with an outright lie.
“She was talking broadly about the politicization of the storms,” she incorrectly interjected.
“I think she was talking about Ron DeSantis,” Jennings pushed back. “He did not ignore her call, and, in fact, according to what I’ve read tonight, he’s actually spoken to the President of the United States.”
“He did speak with President Biden,” Philip confirmed.
Another CNN panelist jumped in to surprisingly agree with Jennings that Harris’ attack was a mistake, stating: “Yeah, I hate to agree with Scott on anything, but I agree in this case.”
“There’s too much disinformation, misinformation, or things that are not factual swirling around about the hurricane. I actually think the facts are bad enough,” Jennings continued. “When the storm came ashore, Biden was at the beach, Harris was raising money, and that was on September 26. On September 27, we had devastation in North Carolina. It wasn’t until October the second that the president mobilized the military. And it wasn’t until the fifth that they mobilized search-and-rescue out of the military.”
“There is a conversation to be had here about spending priorities and also about presidential decision-making,” Jennings added, prompting Philip to actually agree about the spending priorities.
It’s legitimately crazy that Harris attacked Governor DeSantis, who is prepping for a historically bad storm. She’s politicizing when she and Biden were SLOW on their decisions. Even President Joe Biden undermined Harris’ narrative on Tuesday, telling reporters that DeSantis was doing a “great job” addressing the hurricanes.
Holy crap, Joe Biden just said Ron DeSantis has his direct number, is doing a great job on hurricane response, directly undercutting Kamala. Biden hates her. Not hiding it now: pic.twitter.com/Bm95Nh75Iq

DeSantis also responded to Harris’ attacks, telling Fox News that Harris needs to “look in the mirror” — pointing out that his “sole focus” is on dealing with the hurricane, not on “dealing with Kamala Harris.”
“It’s not about you, Kamala, it’s about the people of Florida,” DeSantis said, arguing that Harris was the first person he’s ever encountered in the White House who tried to politicize a hurricane.
“She has never called on any of the storms we’ve had since she’s been vice president until apparently now,” he added. “Why all of the sudden is she trying to parachute in and inject herself when she’s never shown any interest in the past? We know it’s because of politics. We know it’s because of her campaign. I have zero time to entertain these political games.”
DeSantis further noted that he had been having good discussions with Biden about the hurricanes, but “Harris is not even in the chain of command. She has no role in this. I mean, the idea that I should be like worrying about her when I’m focused on the task at hand is just quite frankly, absurd.”
