A mass transit bus in the Northeastern Chinese city of Shenyang exploded violently without warning during the Saturday rush killing one person and injuring forty-two others, two of whom are in critical condition. The devastating explosion that ripped through the bus was captured on video by traffic cameras and published to Youtube by the Chinese language “Youth Network’s Green Hornet News Short Video” Channel, based out of Hong Kong. The fully-occupied bus was driving in dense traffic at the time of the explosion.

Chinese State media outlet CGTN reported that “Shenyang police said they responded to the incident at around 5:55 p.m., which happened at the junction of Huanghe Street and Ningshan Road in Shenyang’s Huanggu District.”  It is noteworthy that the explosion which AT MINIMUM superficially resembles a terrorist incident occurred around 390 miles from Beijing, where the Winter Olympics are being held.

They go on to say that Shenyang authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion but quixotically report that “Witnesses said they heard a loud bang due to the explosion, but the bus involved did not catch fire.” in spite of the extremely obvious fireball shown in the footage that likely caused significant burns to the occupants. While the bus didn’t continue to burn, and that very narrow definition can render that assessment ‘valid’ it serves to downplay the horrifying event in a way we’ve come to expect from CCP propaganda.

Sometimes A Bus Just Explodes In China… Or a Restaurant…

Conversely, the South China Morning Post reported that witnesses described that the bus “was deformed” by the blast and the area was  “full of glass fragments,”

In a post to the Chinese language (and tightly censored) Social media site Weibo, the Shenyang Police wrote, “After receiving the alarm, provincial and municipal leaders and personnel from public security, emergency, first aid and other departments rushed to the scene for disposal as soon as possible,”

According to AmericanMilitaryNews, ” China’s Ministry of Public Security said it would enact added security protocols to “create a safe, stable and harmonious social environment for the Winter Olympics” and allow for “zero mistakes” and “zero accidents.” So it would appear consistent that the Chinese authorities are seeking to minimize the incident as much as possible and any reporting from official sources is absolutely suspect.

Furthermore, Shenyang was also the site of another explosion as recently as October. Even CNN carried the story in the US when three people were killed and another 30 injured in a ‘gas explosion’ that occurred at a restaurant in a mixed-use building with residences above. Anywhere else in the world, these types of explosions would indicate either absurdly lacking safety regulations, unlikely in the ultra-repressive regime… or a burgeoning string of terrorist acts (i.e., VietCong attacks in 1964-65 Saigon). But not in China. No, of course… not in China. In China buses and restaurants just explode sometimes and the mainstream media says nothing about it.
