When Senator Elizabeth Warren appeared on CNN with Jake Tapper recently, she didn’t mince words about her thoughts on the Biden family payment scandal.
She discussed how there is a need for more ethics in government, and expressed concerns over those who make money off their close relationships to politicians.
According to Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, they have identified more than $20 million in payments from foreign sources to the Biden family, including Hunter Biden and their business associates.
There currently isn’t any direct evidence pointing to President Joe Biden doing anything illegal, but when people see Hunter being paid thousands of dollars from Kazakstan or Ukraine’s energy companies, it raises eyebrows on how Washington really operates.
In response to these allegations against the Bidens, Elizabeth Warren has called for more ethical oversight in government.
Warren believes that all citizens should be held accountable by the same ethical standards regardless of party affiliation – even Supreme Court justices who take gifts without reporting them as required by law.
Additionally she addressed “the revolving door” which involves people from industry coming into government and writing regulations for former employers before returning and cashing in on their time served there.
Warren emphasized that having a set of ethics rules which applies universally is essential if Americans want to have trust in their government again – something both Democrats and Republicans can agree upon.
One thing is clear: strong ethical rules are necessary if we want our faith restored in our leaders once again.
