Federal grants meant to fight crime were specifically intended to protect citizens from ever increasing violence, murder and general mayhem. Instead, Merrick Garland’s DOJ turned around and passed the money out to liberal anti-police activist groups.
Grants diverted to Democrats
Joe Biden’s Department of [In-] Justice just slapped American taxpayers across the the face with another two by four. Notorious for putting rats in charge of all the cheese, they did it again. On this occasion, they took the money from “crime-reduction grants” and gave it to groups promoting the same “anti-police, soft-on-crime policies implemented by George Soros-funded district attorneys.” These are the same groups who, Just the News points out, “have unleashed a surge in urban crime.”
George Soros cut off his private funding while his heir apparent “restructures” their family fortune. That left the Democrats without any money, so they’re trying to steal some from the police.
Instead of departments getting the grants to hire and train more officers, the groups who spent a year agitating efforts to defund or restructure law enforcement will cash in. The money will be going toward “bail reform, less incarceration, decriminalizing and de-prioritizing a broad range of criminal offenses” Democrat’s solution is anarchy.
The best way to reduce crime is by decriminalizing it. Shoplifting for example. Is it any wonder that retailers are closing their doors one after another? All their merchandise walks right out those doors without anyone bothering to pay for any of it. That’s the kind of Socialist solution which Ayn Rand warned ends in death for everyone. When you reduce everything to the same level, it bottoms out at zero. Game over.
People who care about law and order being provided by experts, instead of doing it themselves, are leaving liberal cities in droves. In places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago or New York City, lawless criminals shoot their disputes out in the street, heedless of innocent bystanders.
The Department of Justice is funneling grants to their local supporters so they can continue to fund Black Lives Matter priorities.
Make neighborhoods safer
Lurking within the DOJ is the Bureau of Justice Assistance. They quietly awarded the grants “to organizations and municipalities.” The purpose, they claim, is to “reduce serious and violent crime” and “make neighborhoods safer.”
That sounds like they’re doing the “2021 Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program” some deserved justice. They aren’t. Those “organizations” aren’t ones like the FOP. They’re ones with “ties to district attorneys and groups” formerly “funded by progressive megadonor Soros.” That flood of cash has since dried up like Death Valley.
The streets of Los Angeles will allegedly be made safer, they insist, after Urban Peace Institute spends the $1 million they got in grants funding their South Los Angeles Peacemakers program.
UPI calls that program a “radical restructuring” of American policing, including shifting power from police to community “peacemakers.” Bands of roving social workers are sure to prevent armed robbery, rape and assault. That same group “was instrumental in progressive Los Angeles DA George Gascon’s criminal justice changes in the city.” Everyone knows what those did.
UPI has long been pushing a “radical overhaul” of law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
Change, they suggest, “is only going to come from a seismic shift in power away from police, police unions, and the justice system towards a transformative investment in community-led safety and health solutions.” Conservative citizens living in cities who get these DOJ grants will be soon flocking to their local arms dealers and talking to their neighbors about forming vigilance patrols.
