A Republican candidate in the Arizona Senate race against Sen. Mark Kelly (D) questioned the origins of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, joining many conservatives in theorizing that the riot had actually been either fully or in part by Federal Agents.
Blake Masters, a Republican-backed by previous President Donald Trump, had consulted with conservative activists at a Phoenix IHOP dining establishment on March 30, where he was asked if he would support examining U.S. intelligence operations to discover the federal government’s “wicked activities,” to which he responded, “definitely,” according to a recording of the meeting obtained by CNN.
“Don’t we suspect that, like, one-third of the people outside of the Capitol complex on Jan. 6 were actual FBI agents hanging out,” Masters asked at the GrassRoots Tea Party Activists of Arizona event. “What did people know? And when did they know it? We got to get to the bottom of this.”
The Arizona Senate candidate has gone to numerous Trump rallies since the hotly contested election that was fraught with unconstitutional acts and irregularities and went to Trump’s Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, in May to see a screening of Dinesh D’Souza’s election fraud documentary 2000 Mules. A campaign ad from November 2021 revealed Masters stating, “I think Trump won in 2020.”

Masters is among several Republican candidates who have concurred Trump’s assertion that the outcomes of the 2020 election outcomes were fraudulent, a number of whom have actually been backed by President Trump ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
