A Democrat operative has been caught on camera trying to tamper with a ballot drop box in Montana, according to the video obtained by Fox News.
Laszlo Gendler — a Democrat operative paid by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), a political action committee that is helping incumbent Sen. John Tester (D-MT) in his reelection bid against Republican challenger Tim Sheehy — was caught on video on October 20 apparently trying to rip a Glacier County ballot drop box off of the wall.

The incident was referred to the Montana Secretary of State’s office by Glacier County Election Administrator Crystal R. Cole, who sent this notice: “Glacier County has put up two Official Mail Ballot Drop Boxes, one at our Satellite Office in Browning and one at the Glacier County Detention/Dispatch Entrance, both under 24/7 surveillance. Yesterday, on October 20th, at 10:25:05, Laszlo with the MT Democratic Party was on camera tampering with the Box.”
Cole went on to explain that she had called Laszlo “to ask him what his reasoning was,” to which he responded that “they” had sent him to the location to determine how secure the ballot drop box was.
She added: “The MT Democratic party did not notify the Elections office in any way to state they would be sending someone to the Ballot Box to see how secure it was, so on camera it looks like he was tampering with the box.”
Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen’s (R) communications director Richie Melby explained the current situation in a statement to Montana Talks, noting that it had been referred to law enforcement for an investigation into the “highly suspicious” activity.
“The Glacier County election administrator contacted our office expressing serious concern over surveillance footage that appeared to show an individual ‘tampering’ with a ballot box,” the statement read. “Our Elections Director contacted the election administrator, who confirmed that the individual in the footage is Laszlo Gendler. The name of the suspect and details were turned over to Glacier County law enforcement. Our Elections Director was pleased that the individual was not able to remove the ballot box from the wall, although the activity was obviously highly suspicious and concerning.”
Sheehy responded to the story in a post on X, specifically calling out Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for “sending his staff” to “mess with ballot boxes”
