Social media is erupting over a viral story of a child stabbing a random airline passenger with a fork, with many criticizing the mother who allowed her young daughter to roam free on the plane.
Footage of the aftermath of the incident has gone viral on social media, where the victim can be seen holding her shoe and threatening to smack the child. Many people celebrated the response, pointing out the longstanding tradition of Hispanic mothers throwing their “chanclas” — the Spanish word for slippers — at their children as a method of discipline.
The video, which was taken by the sister of the victim, shows the woman trying to flag down a flight attendant to ask them to defuse the situation.
“She’s over here stabbing people with forks. She just randomly stabbed me with a fork,” the victim told the attendant.
The attendant is then seen trying to grab the fork out of the hands of the rowdy child, while anther attendant is seen waking up the girl’s mother — who was apparently taking a nap during the 14-hour Qatar Airlines flight.
Meanwhile, the victim is still seen holding up her sandal and warning the child, stating that if the girl continues to try to hurt her, “I’m gonna f–k her up” and “I’m going to smack the s–t out of her.” The victim’s sister was also heard giggling during that moment.
After the mother woke up, she appeared not to care about her child’s antics, as the victim noted: “Her momma didn’t do nothing. At this point, we feel like the mom was probably tired and definitely wanted someone else to watch her kids.”

Social media users were quick to respond to the viral video, with the majority of them calling out the poor parenting of the child.
“Why is she walking around the plane with a steel fork in the first place?” one Instagram user questioned.
“Where’s the parent? Who lets their kid just randomly bother people?” a second user asked.
“Some parents don’t understand that not everyone thinks their child is cute,” a third user noted.
Other social media users also called out the commenters who tried to make it out that the child’s violence was a joke, with one writing: “Y’all laughing, but this is not okay.”
Many other users argued that the victim should have smacked the child with her shoe, pointing out that someone needed to discipline the little girl before she faces harsher consequences for her behavior in the future.
