Breaking News: Gunmen Kill One Student and Kidnap Dozens More

A tragic story is coming in from Nigeria this morning with reports of one student killed and dozens more kidnapped. This is only the latest in a string of similar incidents. Some say that it’s only a matter of time before situations like this come to America.

At least one student dead

At least 42 people, including 27 students, three teachers and nine family members, were abducted from a state-run school in a violent armed raid Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. According to an official statement, the fatally wounded student has been identified as Benjamin Habila.

American parents are fed up with Covid-19 quarantines but at least homeschooling allows them to keep a close eye on their children.

Now that we live in a post-constitutional open borders global government, some say that it’s only a matter of time before progressive policies lead to similar incidents happening here at home. Student kidnappings could become the new normal. It sure happens a lot in Africa.

Only two months ago another student kidnapping incident involved 300 abducted children. That one happened at Northern Nigeria’s Government Science Secondary School Kankara.

That happens to be in President Buhari’s home state of Katsina. In response to today’s attack, the Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has “closed all boarding schools in the area and dispatched the military to rescue those kidnapped from the school.”

President condemns the abduction

President Buhari condemned the student abduction and “directed the Armed Forces and Police to ensure immediate and safe return of all the captives.”

He also dispatched a team of security chiefs to coordinate the rescue operation and meet with state officials, community leaders, as well as parents and staff of the college.”

Part of the problem is that the school was such an easy target. former Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani, who was also a student at the school notes it has “no perimeter fence and would have afforded easy access to militants.” Not only that, the town is smack in the middle of the insurgency.

“Fulani bandits operate within the axis and there are thousands of people displaced in this area. The bandits of the northwest of Nigeria are becoming more lethal and destructive than Boko Haram.” Kind of like Antifa and Black Lives Matter forces.

President Buhari has been taking heat for putting the student population in danger. He “recently retired all the heads of Nigeria’s security forces and appointed new ones.”

It seems to have been an attempt to clean up corruption but it left a power vacuum. “The security situation in Nigeria is overwhelming and threatens the peace of the country. It is unfortunate the service chiefs were allowed to stay for so long.”
