Attorney General Pam Bondi has announced a lawsuit against New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder over the state issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.
The Department of Justice’s (DOJ) decision to sue New York officials is in alignment with President Donald Trump’s vow to restore law and order in the United States and to protect the American people from criminal illegal aliens.
Bondi announced the lawsuit during a brief press conference at the White House, where she noted that the suit targets a “green light law” that allows illegal aliens in New York to obtain driver’s licenses. She also condemned the deep-blue state for prioritizing illegals over actual American citizens.
“New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today. We’re here today because we have filed charges against this,” Bondi said. “Violent criminals, gang members, drug traffickers, human smugglers will no longer terrorize the American people.”
She went on to highlight another lawsuit that her DOJ recently filed against Illinois and Chicago over their statuses as “sanctuaries” for illegal aliens — noting that New York should have seen that lawsuit and made changes before it happened to them.

“As you know, we see Illinois and New York didn’t listen. So now you’re next,” Bondi said.
“We did it to Illinois. Strike one. Strike two is New York, and if you’re a state not complying with federal law? You’re next,” she added.
“This is a new DOJ, and we are taking steps to protect Americans, American citizens, and Angel moms, like the mom standing right behind me, who you’re going to hear from in a moment,” Bondi said, referring to mothers whose children were murdered by illegal aliens.

The specific “Angel mom” that Bondi was referring to was Tammy Nobles, who was standing beside her. Nobles’ daughter, 20-year-old Kayla Marie Hamilton, was murdered by an illegal alien MS-13 gang member in 2023 in Aberdeen, Maryland.
