We are all getting crushed by energy bills right now.
Most of us are paying at least double what we were when Donald Trump was in office.
Republicans were hoping to rectify that, but Joe Biden just promised he would veto that effort.
I Don’t Think So
The only way a bill can pass through the Senate right now is if it is bipartisan.
Democrats have the gavel, so unless they are on board, the legislation will fail.
Biden is now saying that if the Lower Energy Costs Act manages to get through, he will use his veto pen to strike it down.
The legislation was written by Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and is meant to shore up energy supply chains, which means it will attempt to get us back to being energy independent, something that Biden does not want to have happen.
He prefers for the United States to pay other countries for our energy, which his why are bills are so high right now.
As that bill works its way through Congress, the White House warned, “It would raise costs for American families by repealing household energy rebates and rolling back historic investments to increase access to cost-lowering clean energy technologies. Instead of protecting American consumers, it would pad oil and gas company profits – already at record levels – and undercut our public health and environment.
“H.R. 1 would also empower big companies to skirt the Clean Air Act by lifting pollution control requirements, weaken emissions requirements and worker protection for refineries using toxic chemicals, modify requirements under the bipartisan Toxic Substances Control Act for determining the safety of chemicals used in the energy sector, and repeal $1.5 billion in investments focused on curbing methane leaks that harm surrounding communities.”
Translation: the bill undermines Biden’s green energy push, so it will not even be entertained.
