The number of jobless Americans seeking unemployment benefits rose by 45,000 in just the last week, another sign that the Biden administration’s job killing policies are taking effect.
Even as the United States economy seems to be recovering from the COVID recession, the number of jobless claims rose last week to 770,000 from 725,000 the week before. Prior to the pandemic, applications for unemployment aid have never risen above 700,000 in any one week.
According to a report, a total of 4.1 million people are currently collecting traditional state unemployment benefits, and a total of 18.2 million Americans were receiving some form of jobless aid when federal programs specifically created to help during the COVID pandemic are accounted for.
The Bottom Line
The unemployment rate hit historic lows under President Trump, until the pandemic happened. Even then, the job losses were almost all due to businesses being shut down under authoritarian COVID lockdowns. Under Joe Biden, the jobless numbers definitely aren’t improving, especially with his policies that have led to more job losses, such as the cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline. We could simply blame these numbers on the pandemic, but the media and the Democrats under Trump made sure to blame him for every death and every job loss, so maybe Biden should be held to the same standard.
