In recent news, actress Jennifer Aniston has been subject to a harsh backlash after making comments about the Hollywood industry that many found to be “out of touch.”
This event was sparked when she and actor Sebastian Stan sat down together for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, where they discussed his role in the miniseries Pam & Tommy and the infamous sex tape Lee made with Pamela Anderson.
It was then that Aniston shared her thoughts on how people have become famous for “basically doing nothing” – citing examples such as Paris Hilton and Monica Lewinsky.
She also mentioned how it wasn’t like this in the past before internet culture changed everything.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show finale showcased an interview with Aniston where she reflected back on 2004-2005; this was when her show Friends ended and so did her marriage to Brad Pitt.
In response, she said that she went into therapy to cope with it all as well as starred in a movie called The Break-Up which marked a new chapter for her life.
It is also worth noting here that Aniston proudly voted for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during their campaign due to their promise of bringing equality across America.
However, none of this stopped social media from coming at her once again after these comments were released; many accused Aniston of taking advantage of white privilege while saying that her acting career doesn’t come from talent but rather from being born into rich parents who are already in the business themselves.
Professor Evan Gerstmann even weighed in by declaring: “What is harder to understand is why the truly powerful, those with the power to suspend and investigate are allowing this? Perhaps they fear becoming targets themselves.”
