It’s been months since former President Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the 2024 Presidential Election and now, speculation has been high on who he will pick as his running mate.
While nothing official has come out yet, another name is emerging – South Carolina GOP Senator Tim Scott.
Recently, Trump appeared on Fox News host Maria Bartiromo’s show where they spoke about the Republican primary and potential VP picks.
When asked if he had considered Scott as a running mate, Trump gave an indirect response but praised him as a suitable candidate for the administration.
He also mentioned other possible candidates that could serve in his Cabinet if he wins in 2024.
Trump also talked about Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a long-shot Democratic presidential contender who may run on a third-party ticket, calling him “a smart guy” with great support from both Republicans and Democrats alike.
In fact, some polls showed Kennedy getting 23% of the votes which is “a lot” according to Trump himself.
His popularity even prompted Newsmax host Rob Schmitt to suggest him being combined with Trump in a bumper sticker format which sparked further conversation among viewers if this was actually possible or not.
In June, Steve Bannon brought up Kennedy once again as a potential running mate for Trump citing that while Kennedy won’t win the Democratic nomination due to lack of support from hardcore Democrats, there is still an overlap between what both men stand for – anti-establishment and anti-authoritarian populism that doesn’t trust deep states or administrative rules making them an ‘unstoppable force’.
Former campaign manager John Fredericks also echoed similar sentiments in 2014 when people laughed off at Donald Trump being just “a TV guy” trying to renegotiate his NBC contract instead of taking politics seriously.
However, it was clear then how much power he would have later on when elected president eventually proving everyone wrong along the way, something that Bannon hopes to repeat once again by having RFK Jr join forces with Donald Trump come election time in 2024.
