Donald Trump just got some very good news on the election front.

Recent events appear to be hurting Joe Biden in polling.

Not only that, but the projected impact of a third-party candidate is not at all what pundits had been expecting.

Big News for Trump

In the most recent Harvard CAPS/Harris survey, Trump has put some distance between himself and Biden.

This is still not the “norm,” but we are starting to see this in more and more polls.

Trump is now holding a 46-41 lead against Biden, but there are still 14 percent undecided.

In a three-way race with RFK Jr. in the mix, Trump pulls even further away.

While he does lose support, it is not nearly as much as Biden, with Trump leading the race 39-33-19.

If Cornel West is added to the mix, Trump picks up another two points on Biden.

That three-way race result is interesting to me because of Trump’s numbers if he is convicted of a felony.

In generic polling, Trump loses about half his support if convicted, and it is only natural to assume that most of that support would go to Kennedy, not Biden, so he could be a real threat come election day.

To that point, Kennedy stated, “I will do everything I can to live up to the public’s positive impression.

“I’ll do that by conducting a campaign that is courteous and respectful and that speaks to the good in people.

“I’ll listen to the best of what liberals and conservatives have to offer.

“Because I think that this desire for another choice besides Biden and Trump is also saying something much deeper.

“It is a rejection of a divisive, us-versus-them politics.

“We have to change the reflex of labeling our opponents as horrible people.

“First because they aren’t horrible people.

“Second, because it creates artificial divisions, and our times call for the kind of changes that only a unified public can accomplish.”

This is arguably the most complex election we have seen in decades.
