She was just a few days shy of her 97th birthday.
Lansbury first entered the business in 1942, and continued acting through 2018.
She is probably best known in the United States for her role in “Murder, She Wrote.”
The show had an epic run that started in the 1980s and lasted well into the 1990s.
While a talented actress, Lansbury never won an Emmy or an Oscar for a performance.
The only trophy on her mantel came from an honorary award during the 2014 Academy Awards.
Considering this woman’s contribution to the craft, it is rather remarkable that she was snubbed year after year.
