It is with profound sadness that we report the sudden passing of Emmy award-winning meteorologist, Elise Finch.

She was a beloved friend and team member at WCBS for 16 years who had just recently joined the morning newscast.

Her unexpected death leaves us all trying to comprehend how such an incredible person could be taken from us in an instant.

Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who took great care with her work.

She was also a wonderful ambassador in the community, including her hometown of Mount Vernon.

Throughout her 16 year tenure at WCBS she kept up her passion for weather, first joining as their weekend meteorologist before becoming part of the 9am newscast alongside Cindy Hsu last September.

Elise’s impact on the community will not soon be forgotten.

She had become an integral part of WCBS’s morning news show and was referred to as “our bright light in the morning” by colleagues due to her upbeat attitude each day when coming into work.

WCBS staff all had the pleasure of working with this talented woman and can only hope that one day we may come close to achieving what she did in such a short amount of time.

Those close to Elise offered their condolences via CBS News.

No one can express how much this loss will be felt but we hope that everyone can keep Elise’s family in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
