Joe Biden is a fraud.
That was the message from a former Trump staffer and current Trump hater, Alyssa Farah Griffin, on The View recently.
The discussion centered around an article by Maureen Dowd which called out Biden for not recognizing his granddaughter Navy Roberts as part of his family.
Is Joe Biden’s narrative of empathy and family tragedies genuine?
Or is the 80-year-old president’s view of family outdated and inauthentic?
It all began when Whoopi Goldberg brought up a New York Times piece written by Maureen Dowd which questioned why Joe Biden hadn’t acknowledged Navy Roberts—the daughter of Beau Biden, Joe’s late son—as being part of his own extended family.
In her article, Dowd noted how “callously scarring Navy’s life, just as it gets started, undercuts” Joe Biden’s long-standing mantra that “the absolute most important thing is your family.”
She concluded by suggesting that this story reveals “how dated and inauthentic the 80-year-old president’s view of family is.”
Whoopi wasn’t too pleased with Dowd’s assessment, telling her to find something else to write about instead.
However, Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back against this idea, arguing that if Donald Trump had a grandkid he wasn’t acknowledging then it would be all over the news media.
Yet because this is Joe we are expected to turn a blind eye to it?
Griffin believes that we should be talking about this issue more openly—and she agrees with Maureen Dowd when she says that “Joe Biden is a fraud”.
This challenges some of our preconceived ideas about who Joe really is – someone who only talks about ‘family’ when it suits him – rather than someone who genuinely values families and puts them first in everything he does or says.
And if Donald Trump were caught behaving similarly then there would no doubt be outrage among many Democrats – yet because this involves one of their own leaders they are seemingly willing to overlook it or even downplay its importance entirely.
If he can’t recognize his own granddaughter then what does that say about how authentic his message really is?
