State Senator’s Family Member Gunned Down

Two people — including a family member of a state senator — were killed after four gunmen fired more than 100 shots into a Fourth of July party.

Police have released surveillance video of the shooting, where four gunmen opened fire on an Independence Day party crowd outside of a Philadelphia storefront, in the hopes that someone will come forward with information leading to the apprehension of the suspects.

According to reporting by NBC 10, the shooting occurred in the evening on July 4 outside of the Premiere Bande on 60th Street in West Philadelphia, between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street.

One of the people killed in the shooting was Salahaldin Mahmoud, 21, who is the cousin of April Street, Pennsylvania State Senator Sharif Street’s wife.

Event organizer Sircarr Johnson Jr., 23, was also killed.

Reports indicate that a 16 year old girl was injured in the shooting, and is currently in the hospital listed in stable condition.

Philadelphia police released this video showing the gunmen rounding a corner and opening fire on the crowd, who immediately ran for cover. They are asking for the public’s help in finding the shooters, and are offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information can call the police tip line, 215-686-8477.

The video’s message states:

“The Philadelphia Police Department Homicide Unit is looking to identify the individuals, depicted in the following surveillance video excerpts, as part of an ongoing investigation into a shooting incident, that occurred on Sunday, July 4th, 2021, at about 10:40 PM, in the 100 block of N. 60th Street.

Four (4) individuals, all armed with semi-automatic handguns, two of which had blue lasers attached, are observed firing numerous gunshots at a group of people attending a barbeque in front of a business in the block.

A twenty-one-year-old male and a twenty-three-year-old male were fatally shot during the incident, while two female victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the shooting.

The four suspects arrived at that location in a dark grey colored sedan, possibly a Nissan with dark tinted windows, travelling northbound on S. 60th Street, turning onto Walnut, and parking just west of the intersection.

After the shooting, the four suspects re-enter the vehicle, which is last observed driving westbound on Walnut Street towards 61st Street.

After the initial shooting, several individuals return fire at the four suspects, as they are fleeing.”
