The sentence for Brittney Griner was announced this week.
The WNBA star was given nine years in jail.
Joe Biden is NOT happy about it.
The Breakdown
Griner now plays for a Russian team and was heading back to Russia after a break to rejoin the team.
She packed numerous marijuana vape cartridges, which are illegal in Russia, and got caught.
Now, keep in mind, if this were the average American, Joe Biden would NOT be involved at all.
Instead, a woman that has dumped all over this country now has the resident White House occupant taking up her case.
The White House says she was wrongly imprisoned, but that is wrong.
She knew the laws and broke them because of who she was… it is that simple.
Biden, on the sentence, stated, “Today, American citizen Brittney Griner received a prison sentence that is one more reminder of what the world already knew: Russia is wrongfully detaining Brittney.
“It’s unacceptable, and I call on Russia to release her immediately so she can be with her wife, loved ones, friends, and teammates.
“My administration will continue to work tirelessly and pursue every possible avenue to bring Brittney and Paul Whelan home safely as soon as possible.”
Maybe this will give pause to American athletes that play in Russia to cash in.
You take their money and live there, you have to play by their rules, and they are not nearly as friendly as the rules here.
And to think, Biden has put a notorious Russian arms dealer on the table to get her back.
