Several LEO's Murdered During INTENSE Situation

Fox 5 reports that on January 11, three police officers were murdered, and a fourth was injured, during a carjacking near the capital of Puerto Rico.

The incident occurred in a popular tourist district of Isla Verde, causing a severe traffic jam on one of the busiest highways near the island’s main international airport.

Agent José Catalano told The Associated Press that two of the murdered officers were shot, and the third was ran over by the murderer’s car. The names of the officers have not been released, though two have been identified as municipal officers, and the third as a state officer.

This was the first time in recent history that so many Puerto Rico police officers were killed in one incident.

“I’ve never had a scene like this,” Capt. José González told The Associated Press.

According to Catalano, the man allegedly responsible for the murder of the three officers is still at large, though his car has been seized by authorities.

A high-ranking official who was not authorized to speak with the media informed the AP that the suspect stole a car from a woman in the northern city of Carolina, then opened fire on officers after he was stopped in Isla Verde.

Limary Cruz, a spokeswoman for the FBI, said that the agency was working alongside local police, but has no plans to take over the case.

Though their names have not been released yet, one Twitter user shared photos of the three murdered officers with the hashtag #BlueLivesMatter and the caption: “These three officers were murdered in Carolina, Puerto Rico by a gunman armed with a automatic rifle in a pursuit following a carjacking. The murderer is still at large and the police force is on a manhunt.”
