With Republicans now in control of the House, it is a game changer on this out-of-control spending that we have been seeing.
Come June, a decision on the debt ceiling will have to be made, and Biden has already stated that he will not permit that to be a bargaining chip for the GOP.
I would say he spoke too soon, and so would Senators Cruz (R-TX) and Paul (R-KY).
You Better Sit Down!
If history has told us anything, it is that politicians like to wait until the last minute on budget issues so they can get everyone in a state of panic and force through spending. L
That is not going to happen here.
Senator Paul stated, “President Biden needs to know, absolutely he will negotiate, and it’s better to start now.”
Senator Cruz followed that up, stating, “We are at a moment in time, because the American people elected a Republican majority in the House, where we have an opportunity to stop the madness.
“And I believe it is incumbent on that Republican majority, and on the Republicans in the Senate, to use every lever point we have to stop the out-of-control spending that is driving inflation, that is punishing hard-working Americans across this country.”
Biden is already trying to paint this as the GOP wanting the country to default, but that is not the case.
Republicans merely want to get spending under control and get that number going the other way.
Cruz continued, “Nobody standing here wants to default on the debt.
“Let me be absolutely clear and unequivocal: The United States of America should never, ever, ever default on its debt.
“There is one principle person in this town that is talking about a default in the debt, and that is Joe Biden.
“Joe Biden wants to threaten a default in the debt. He wants to scare the markets, and frankly, he’s counting on you all.”
Negotiate or default, Joe, those are your options whether you like it or not.
