Just about every member of the Republican Party with a high profile was livid after the FBI raid on Trump’s home.
Senator McConnell (R-KY) was another story.
It took McConnell a full day to say something, and that was only after pressure was applied.
No Friend of Mine
Secretly, McConnell was probably hoping the FBI would come up with something big to eliminate Trump from ever running again.
When he was first asked about the raid, he stated, “I’m here to talk about the flood and recovery from the flood.”
As one of the party’s leaders, however, he surely realized that after 24 hours and no information, he had to say something.
So, he demanded action while still remaining neutral.
McConnell stated, “The country deserves a thorough and immediate explanation of what led to the events of Monday.
“Attorney General Garland and the Department of Justice should already have provided answers to the American people and must do so immediately.”
Now, that is not exactly a ringing endorsement for Trump, but at least he stepped up to call out Merrick Garland for some transparency.
Even so, several days later, here we are, and the American people still have no idea why our DOJ raided the home of a former president.
